Like remedy have said the game is more action packed but it still sticks to the original with the light vs dark mechanic

True, but that light vs dark mechanic is incredibly shallow. No way would a game based just on that be any good. Several times through Alan Wake I felt like quitting because the gameplay was so repetitive and boring. It was the story and cinematics that kept me playing it.
