Two multiplayer modes cut from Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite is losing two multiplayer modes to the scrap bin after being considered not up to scratch, according to Ken Levine.

"As I've always said we are experimenting with things, and only if they are good enough will we put them in the game." - Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games

The first of the two scrapped multiplayer modes would see players placed inside arcade machines, where they would battle against waves of toys in a tower defense type game.

The second was titled "Spec Ops", involving four-player co-op through the single-player campaign.

From this news, it's not entirely clear whether or not Bioshock Infinite will launch with any multiplayer modes.

Infinite is set to launch on February 26 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

That's a shame, co-op multiplayer is always welcomed. Competitive multiplayer is not as Infinite seems like a game that can stand on its own without it.
I hope they didn't waste to much time with making a competitive multiplayer mode it was terrible on bioshock 2 this is about the only game i find that multiplayer is not required.
I'd rather they just concentrate on it being single player only
Bioshock doesn't seem like the type of game that would need co-op, and definitely not multiplayer.

As said by Mandy, focus on the single player
Agreed, it doesnt matter if they scrap multiplayer. Im going for the singleplayer mode
I hope this is not another The Last Guardian -_-
Why they have to include multiplayer/co-op is beyond me. Is no franchise safe these days from the online revolution?
Bioshock 2 was pretty much 2K saying, "OK...Bioshock needs multiplayer...let's make Bioshock 2 and add multiplayer."

It was a non-event, uninspiring sequel. Good game, no doubt, but hardly memorable. No Bioshock.

Infinite does not need multiplayer. Sad reality is, though, that games with a multiplayer component are probably going to ship a few thousand more units. Publishers wouldn't insist on games having multiplayer if it didn't have an affect on sales.
