Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo out now

Konami have today released a playable demo for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as confirmed via Twitter earlier this month.

The demo allows players to slice their way through the first chapter of the game, giving us our first glimpse at Platinum Games' take on Raiden and the classic Metal Gear series.

For those who've been living under a rock, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an upcoming hack 'n' slash spin-off of the acclaimed, you guessed it, Metal Gear franchise. The game is being developed by Platinum Games, the guys behind titles such as Bayonetta and Vanquish, and is set to release in Australia on February 21, 2013.

joking aside, Vanquish was a good game so there's hope this could be a lot of fun too!

I just finished playing the demo last night and i hated the game. I know it was made by a different company and is a different take on raiden... but i just didnt like it.

Played it on PS3.
Thoughts are this.
The game looks phenomenal at least on PS3.
The cutting mechanics are awesome but imo don't fully work, working only as a finisher.
It's glitchy as hell. I've been stuck in a wall, had guards completely ignore me and had guards where I can cut a limb off but they carry on walking about ignoring me.
The gameplay is fairly average with the sword fighting proving to be fairly uninspired and the defense system is fairly lame, certainly no Ninja Gaiden 1.
On a whole the game is very arcadey with hints of Metal Gear, its not a bad game but its not great either.

People and my friends having trouble with the parry/block/counter in this game but it depends on the timing if early or too late you block but hit it the right time you counter which makes it fun. Just for tips to do this Just point L joystick to the source of pain and hit wide attack at the right time ;)

Having fun slicing enemy to bits.

The parry/block/counter system is just crap, i'm sorry. Ninja Gaiden Black nailed it and Platinum Games should have just stolen the idea for this.

Not a big fan of Ninja Gaiden in my opinion I just don't like the main character.

With ninja games these days showing ninjas as a stealthy, fast and magical mythical warriors I like to see a realistic ninja game what ninjas a really like you know disguise as a farmers or peasants and just spy on Japanese war lords and selling the information to anyone then go home and eat dried fish and rice. Yeah that be a good game LoL :P

I mean, sure you don't have any Japanese war lords and you don't go home and eat dried fish and rice, but you've got the stealthing, pick pocketing, eaves dropping, disguising elements...it's close enough!
And now I realize I don't know if you we're serious whether you wanted a game like that, or you were just joking :P

Also, anyone know when the MGR demo will be released for non gold members? I wanna try it already :'( :'@

In your opinion your not a fan, ok then, that's a first. Ninja Gaiden is one of the best Ninja games ever. How can you not like the character, he is a guy dressed in black who barely talks. I downloaded the demo last night but yet to try it
