Xbox 360 sales down nearly 50%

Global Xbox 360 sales are down 48 percent year-on-year, Microsoft has revealed.

Microsoft sold 1.4 million units between January 1 and March 31, down from 2.7 million in the corresponding period last year. That brings lifetime sales to 67.2 million worldwide. By comparison, the PlayStation 3 is sitting around 62 million and the Wii has topped 90 million units sold.

Kinect sales also dropped, but Microsoft would not say by how much, and Xbox revenue fell 33 percent to USD $584 million. However, it still topped the US hardware sales charts for the 15th consecutive month.

Nintendo went through a similar slump didn't they? Isn't it just a normal business cycle? Correct me if I'm wrong which I probably am. lol

Maybe they shouldn't have fixed the RROD issue with the 360. Now people don't need to keep on buying new 360 consoles all the time :P

I don't know, there's not much market to eat in that would be worth the loss in profits. I'm sure it's coming, but right now doesn't seem like the best time. They need to ride a wave of announcements WITH a price drop. =D
