Almost a week ago it was revealed Star Wars developers LucasArts were planning to unveil a completely new entry into the popular franchise, and now it the game's name has been officially revealed as Star Wars: 1313.
The press release states that the game is a third-person cinematic action game that will "bring to life the Coruscant underworld, the most dangerous place in the Sta Wars galaxy."
Players will take control of a lethal bounty hunter with an arsenal of exotic weaponry at his disposal, who is hunting down enemies to uncover the truth behind a criminal conspiracy, all the while navigating Level 1313, a "ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet".
The press release emphasises a gameplay focus on "epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets rather than supernatural Force powers." This will be an interesting shift from the last few titles of Force-Unleashed and Star Wars Kinect, which have emphasized the Jedi protagonist.
"We're excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing," said Paul Meegan, President of LucasArts in the official press release.
"Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we've always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We are committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself."
The accompanying teaser image above shows what we assume is the Bounty Hunter protagonist of the game looking down into Level 1313 below. An original trilogy-era shuttle is in the middle of the shot, which may hint that we may be playing in against the backdrop of the original trilogy's storyline this time around.
