Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning 2 was in pre-production at 38 Studios' Big Huge Games before everything went pear-shaped last week, and all employes were let go.
Joystiq has heard that talks were progressing with a publisher before the studio closed down its projects.
Even if Big Huge Games does resurface under another name, it won't be developing Reckoning 2. The IP is currently owned by 38 Studios, and is likely to end up in the hands of Rhode Island if the State's taxpayers have to foot its USD $75 million bill.
They could then sell the IP to the highest bidder, but after this debacle, it's unlikely to fetch the $75 mil needed to cover the costs.
