Minecraft 360 played more than Fifa, threatens COD

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has become the third most played game on Xbox Live during its debut week, and only trails Call of Duty.

It topped the likes of Battlefield 3, FIFA 12, Halo Reach and Skyrim.

However, not even Minecraft can dethrone Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops from first and second places.

The top 10 games played globally by users while on Xbox Live last week, as reported by Major Nelson, are as follows:

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops
3. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
4. FIFA 12
5. Battlefield 3
6. Halo: Reach
7. Modern Warfare 2
8. NBA 2K12
9. Skyrim
10. Gears of War 3

Hahahaha awesome. Go Minecraft!
Pretty sure it'll topple it. The general masses is the driving force behind COD these days.
If people eat up MC, so will their families.
I wonder if it'll have the staying power of the other games?

It has had the staying power on PC, don't see why it wouldn't have it on Xbox... especially if they add creative mode.

The way I see it, Minecraft is the Sims of this generation. It'll last a decade before people get sick of it.
Indeed it has. As long as they continue to update it it should (and they've said they will, at no charge). I'm cheering for Minecraft :D
I'm quite surprised at how many people choose to play minecraft with a controller instead of a keyboard/mouse. I don't think I could ever use a controller for it :S

There honestly is no difference between the 2. Really easy to play on both. The controller benefits from the simplified crafting system, if they did the same system than yes than PC's controls would have been a lot easier.
I think you guys are overrating this; If it didn't topple the "greats" in its first week, it most likely will only fall from here on out. [heartbreak]

I didn't have enough money to pick it up in the first week, and I'm assuming a few people will have this problem with it being 1600 Microsoft Points when there's only 1500 or 3000 point cards.

Nevertheless, it's epic. Why play CoD when you can simply remake CoD maps and shoot each other with Bow&Arrows? [Derp]
Because that's just ghey?

lol [MOG]
It'll stay if they release patches/updates soon. Some bugs can be game breaking and they promised us texture packs and mods.

BRING THEM! :D
The lack of mod support MIGHT end up effecting it in the next couple months, I wouldn't have played MC on PC for nearly as long were it not for mods, I think everyone experiments with mods eventually, even the most basic.
