Mass Effect 3 intro will aid new players

BioWare says it will ease new players into Mass Effect 3 with an intro that catches them up on the story so far.

Mass Effect 2 on PS3 used a comic-book stye system to inform players of the events of the Xbox exclusive original, but BioWare want to do better for Mass Effect 3.

"In all honesty, we didn't do a really good job of new player orientation," BioWare's Nick Clifford told IGN. "If you didn't play the first game then 2 was pretty jarring for the first half hour."

"If I'm a new player and some guy walks up to me and is like 'Ohhhh Shepard! Remember that one time?' I would be like 'No. I don't remember that one time.'

"So we wanted to make sure that there aren't those moments that the player is like, 'Who is this? What's going on? What are they talking about?'"

i think this is a good approach.
Maybe they should just grab ME 1 + 2 from the bargain bins and play some really good games to catch up on the story and have some investment into the story...

or they could spend a few mins watching an intro and jump straight in without missing out on a detailed story (and improve on it) thus grabbing a new set of players who never gave a thought of playing a ME game... This leads to the publisher/devs selling more of a NEW game that's been heavily invested in.
Or they could sell more games by getting people to buy the previous games :D
People should see the big 3 on it and go "oh, maybe I should play the first 2 first" ...
Translation: "We will kill off the good characters for you"
