Infinity Ward has introduced an explosive new mode for Modern Warfare 3 called 'Face Off', an intense 1v1 or 2v2 combat experience on small, custom-made maps.
The mode will be available for try for free on May 16 on Xbox Live with two new maps, Aground and Erosion. Elite premium members will get an additional two maps, Getaway and Lookout, all of which will be available in Collection 2 for non-premium members on May 22.
"One of the things we've tried to do for all of the DLC for this game is use the core mechanics of Call of Duty in new and interesting ways," said Mark Rubbin, executive producer at Infinity Ward. "That's when we came up with Face Off."
For Sledgehammer Games co-founder Michael Condrey, Face Off epitomises competition.
"You're going head-to-head, no excuses, no distractions, no whining, you against one or two other guys," quipped Mr Condrey.
The new mode has had a number of new maps created specifically for it, as Mr Rubbin explained.
"We've made maps that are specifically for this play style," he explained, "and that's something we've never done before."
You can test drive Face Off on May 16, with all maps available for all gamers from May 22 with the release of Collection 2, alongside the release of three new maps.
