Today is Diablo day, and what better way to celebrate than looking into that proposed console version that Blizzard has been semi-secretive about for so long. During an interview with Gamasutra, D3 director Jay Wilson discussed the apparently console project.
Yeah. We haven't officially announced it, because we're not 'experimenting. We tell people that basically we're experimenting, because it helps us hire people. The better people we hire, the better chance we have to actually make it. That's why we haven't kept it super secret, but we also haven't confirmed it, because we're not sure yet whether we think it will work, and whether we think we have the resources to do it,"
So they're looking into it, but nothing is set in stone.
Blizzard have long teased a possible console version of Diablo 3, discussing the advantages of console controls, showing off leaked screenshots, and hiring people for console-specific development.
It is worth noting that the original Diablo did appear on the Sony PlayStation.
