Far Cry 3's multiplayer will be more team focused and less centered on militarisation, according to Ubisoft Massive game designer Daniel Berlin.
Mr Berlin detailed the upcoming shooter's multiplayer component, claiming that Massive's online expertise and pride makes it the perfect studio to develop the title.
"The approach was definitely more team play, getting more team play in," explained Mr Berlin. "It kind of felt like a lot of games, the only team play through action that exists is the fact that I don’t shoot my teammates.
"We wanted more team play through action going on."
Mr Berlin explained a number of specific tweaks to the gameplay to enhance the game's team play, as the studio "created a series of core team play features, like the Battle Cry, for example."
As for the game's setting, Mr Berlin stressed that the game will take place in an environment different to other modern shooters.
“The game is very, very not military. I would say the overall theme is survival on a tropical, beautiful island and that is filled with insanity.”
Far Cry 3 is primed for release in September.
