Following the announcement yesterday of a new Gears of War game to be revealed at E3, today the front cover of the July issue of Game Informer has exposed the title of the new game, Gears of War: Judgment, as well as the shadowy figures shackled in chains in the original teaser image: Delta Squad members Augustus "Cole Train" Cole, and Damon Baird.
The two images above evidently show a younger Cole and Baird, the former without his weariness and not as much ridiculous muscle mass, and the latter without his trademark facial scarring. Both are being escorted away by two Onyx Guards, the elite Gears soldiers of the game universe, while a Locust Horde are pictured behind them. These images suggest Judgment will be a prequel, and judging by the Locust's presence, it could be set in the early days of the Human-Locust War.
According to IGN, Gears of War: Judgment will involve the tale of Kilo Squad, of which Baird and Cole are a part of along with two other members named Garron and Sophia, and the circumstances which led to them being "charged for treason because they didn't follow orders, stole equipment, and their actions could end up killing millions of people they swore to protect."
It was also revealed around the same time through a series of tweets between Epic Games President Mike Capps and People Can Fly's Adrian Chmielarz that the latter's developer company is taking the helms of this Gears title. People Can Fly are known for their work in partnership with Epic, most recently for their first-person shooter Bulletstorm, which was released early last year.
