E3 2009: Metal Gear Solid: Rising revealed

During Microsoft's E3 2009 keynote speech, Kojima took to the stage and dropped the bombshell we all knew was coming. But no one could have expected this!

He revealed that MGS was coming to XBOX 360 in the form of Metal Gear Solid: Rising. Solid Snake won't be in the game, but instead the focus will switch the MGS character Raiden, as shown in a brief teaser during the announcement.

It wasn't announced as to whether this was a XBOX 360 exclusive or not, although it would be safe to assume it would also appear on the Playstation 3.

Let's be honest - it has just as much chance of happening as GTA has of appearing on Wii."

It says Metal Gear Solid 4 in that quote. This is news for Metal Gear Solid: Rising. They're two entirely different games.

Kojima not Konami!!!

Kojima is Konami pretty much. They're nothing without him anymore.
I doubt it was Kojima's choice, rather the bosses at Konami telling him to get a 360 version done, after all the talk of no MGS for 360.

Wrong wrong and Wrong, Kojima wanted to target the Western market and decided to go with a western developer. So this game is what I would call Kojima's biggest gamble, Last time I checked the game wasn't a tactical espionage action game but rather

"Lighting bolt action"

Something tells me the stealth genre has been detached from the series and if I'm correct I would be a very dissapointed fan.

Nothing's set in stone yet, man. Don't be so quick as to judge...we haven't seen any in-game footage yet.

For all we know it could be a mix of both stealth and action. regardless, I'm looking forward to see what comes about. Mind you, this is going to be on PS3 too.

I would be very dissappointed if it become some action style beat em up. I want a real MGS game for the 360. PLEASE !!!!! As for the western audience thing,I'm pretty sure the MGS series on PS1 & 2 done very well in the western world.

What he means by "Western world" is working with Western companies...point in case being Microsoft. There are far more Xbox owners in the Western world than the East.
Has anyone in this thread actually played MGS4? The gameplay was extremely westernised... if you think Kojima sold out by making Rising not 'tactical espionage', you probably didn't pick up on the changes that came with MGS4... you could easily play through that game without using stealth... it had more in common with Call of Duty 4 than say most stealth games that take credit from being inspired by the MGS series... (splinter Cell, Hitman, etc...) I doubt they'd go full on beat 'em up, but maybe like MGS4, half/half...

Probably 3/4 action and 1/4 stealth me thinks. But yeah I agree with you on that point. The stealth factor in MGS4 was evidently lacking from what little I played.
