Black Ops 2 looks tired, needs a rest - EA

The Activision versus EA war of the words has begun immediately this year, with the first verbal attacks fired less than 24 hours after Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was revealed with its debut trailer.

Electronic Arts global product manager Kevin O'Leary took to twitter to have his say on the trailer that has the gaming industry split.

"Poor [Black Ops II], you look tired, you should take a year off and rest," said O'Leary in reference to the franchise's annual updates.

Realising it mightn't be the best PR, he quickly deleted the tweet, but not before the Internet got hold of it. Too late.

Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 went up against EA's Battlefield 3 last year. In November, COD: Black Ops 2 will compete against Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

****ing mature much
I hate EA at the moment.. I really do
It would be good if COD took a year off to "rest". I'm liking the look of BO2 in terms of story and setting but it would have been awesome if it was running on a new engine. :S
Here's the thing though.. I love portal.. So much so if they bought out the same sorta thing every year I wouldn't care I'd still buy it.. This is the way COD fans must feel.. They love it so why not.. Stupid EA

I thought EA had learned a lesson about bitter, butthurt teasing?
Can't help but agree it needs a rest before coming back guns blazing with a new engine and some fresh ideas.
The franchise has been well and truly run into the ground, i can't see why they can't just support a CoD title for 2/3 years through DLC until the next big thing. It's all money, money, money. I can't stand Activision to be honest.
Maybe EA should have a rest and not release the same tired suite of sports games each year.

That being said, COD does need a new engine.

BLOPS2 > Warfighter

trololol. It's going to be worse than how Blops v BF3 was :S

@Dicky I agree with you with the engine and possibly skipping a year to "reconfigure" everything. But the point everyone misses is that a CoD every year works out fine for majority of the players. They know they are getting the same thing each year when they pay for the game and they are fine with it. The formula works and turns over massive profits while smashing records. Why change that and risk what you already have?

Because eventually people will get burnt out from a yearly release.
eg, Guitar Hero.

Make it so that people really want a new game before you release it.

Guitar Hero burnt out because they were releasing half-games at full-retail every 3 months.

There are tons of games that get yearly releases and never burn out.
That's not the case with CoD though. Look how many people still play older versions, Blops, MW2, WaW, CoD4 etc.

The fans definitely aren't getting burnt out. Atleast not yet.
Lol EA. So up themselves but so shit. If DICE wasn't around, EA would be a joke in the FPS market.

People in this thread hate EA but they still buy their games :S
I hate Activision as the CoD cashcow has ruined this generation for me. No developers are interested in different, original and quirky titles but favour CoD clones in an attempt to share the fortunes.
The last generation, especially PS2 featured loads of different, daring and fun titles which no one would dare fund these days due to crap like this, even PC enjoyed its fair roster of FPS's Brilliant games like timesplitters and oddworld are overlooked while the masses graze on infinite reincarnations of all ready existing titles that offer no diversity in there dreary tried and tested formula
