Black Ops II will offer an experience different from all other Call of Duty games, according to the game's director, David Antony.
The Call of Duty series has been the victim of staunch criticism from gamers as its annual releases barely deviate from predecessors.
However, that's all about to change with the sequel to Treyarch's 2010 shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops.
“In terms of Black Ops II being violent, what’s interesting to me is that it’s different to previous Call of Duty’s,” said Mr Antony. “In those, 95% of the time you were up against humans, and human vs human is just about as violent as it’s going to get, right?"
“In Black Ops II, you’re actually going to spend a fair proportion of the game fighting against machines. We’re offering a different kind of experience, one that previous Call of Duty’s have never really engaged with before.”
Black Ops 2 will shift back-and-forth between characters and eras, just like other games in the Call of Duty series. But this time round gamers will be fighting off against machines in a future world not yet seen in Activision's record-breaking franchise.
