Battlefield 3 has shipped 15 million units since launching last October, and is expected to reach the 18 million mark by the end of March, according to EA CEO, John Riccitiello.
However, these figures represent units shipped to retailers, not units actually sold to consumers.
The company said it was happy with the success of Battlefield 3, in that it achieved exactly what it wanted it to: take a significant share from the leading competitor.
"There will be exciting new developments for the Battlefield brand as the fiscal year for 2013 progresses," said Mr Riccitiello.
"Battlefield 3 took [a] very significant share from the leading competitor on its way to being one of the biggest selling titles in EA history."
