The success of Batman: Arkham Asylum came as no surprise, even if the game's developer, Rocksteady, wasn't sure as to just how well it would do.
The game's director, Sefton Hill, said the focus was to simply make a good game, and that the development team didn't know, nor focus on, how successful it would end up being.
""When we were making Arkham Asylum, we had no idea how successful it would be. We just wanted to make great games and we were trying to figure out the best way of doing that," he explained.
Mr Hill said he was "proud of the work the team had done", and that following the game's eventual success, it gave them the confidence to expand the series and, eventually, develop the critically acclaimed sequel, Batman: Arkham City.
