2012 sales are screwed, even if GTA V is released

Slow console game sales in 2012 can't even be saved by Grand Theft Auto V, should it be released this year.

Colin Sebastian, an analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co, isn't confident that GTA V will be released this year, but even if it is, it won't be enough to salvage declining console software sales.

"Given the current momentum of the market, I doubt any major releases, even one of GTA V's size, would push the physical markets back into the positives," Sebastian told VentureBeat.

Grand Theft Auto V is expected to launch this financial year, before March 31, 2013.

Definitely a Feb-March release, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a delay beyond that to October 2013.

No chance of the game being released in October-November 2012, with no new trailer, no previews, no hands-on, no multiplayer reveal. Rockstar traditionally shows three previews of its games: hands-off preview, hands-on preview, multiplayer. It's been the same with every game this generation.

True but there is no where to go forward consoles really can't get any better (expect for xbox getting blu-ray) otherwise games are going to take for ever to make and release.

Also a sign of uncertainty in the market. But so many major releases coming out, and a big second half to the year.

Halo 4 will break records. So will BLOPS 2. GTA IV is a sure thing. Bioshock Infinite I'm unsure on. It might bomb. We'll see.
