Gaming's most ridiculous challenges?

So just recently I started re-playing the awesome SNES game Super Mario RPG. I felt like I was blitzing through it, and when I got to a certain stage in the game, I nailed over 30 straight super jumps and re-discovered the "Super Suit Challenge"..

The challenge is simple - or seemingly so.. The player must use one of Mario's special abilities in battle, which lets him jump a seemingly-infinite amount of times on his enemy in one move. If players can use the ability to get a certain amount of jumps, they are rewarded with a prize:

30 jumps - attack scarf
100 jumps - super suit

Both of these prizes, but especially the super suit, break the game open and give the player a heck of a lot more power.

Seems simple, right?

Well, the first 10 or so jumps are.. for these jumps you have as much as an entire second to time your button-press.. but as you do more jumps, the window for timing gets smaller. From the 14th jump and onward, you have only 2 frames to time the jump.. that's a fifteenth of a second or 66 milliseconds (66 thousandths of a second).

To give you an idea of how quick that is, when you blink, your eyes are shut for 100-150 milliseconds.

This brought me back to when I first played the game, the highest amount of jumps I could ever get was barely beyond 40.

This is notorious in retro gaming circles as one of the hardest challenges. It requires immense concentration, timing, and also luck.

So I spent a few hours today trying to get it and, no dice :(

So my questions for you:
1) Has anybody else attempted the Super Suit Challenge?
2) What other challenges are there in gaming which were simply ridiculous? Did they offer rewards? Have you completed them?

While you could certainly include challenges like beating Contra with no damage taken, try to think of challenges actually imposed by the game itself!

That's pretty bad, BUT is it worse than Megaman's achievement where you have to beat the entire game without being damaged? [MOG] (evil)

Probably not as difficult as some challenges, but waaay back in FF10, that challenge to dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row (with no way to keep count, other than in your head while trying desperately not to miss one) was a massive pita. That stands out as one of my most challenging moments.

i've hate doing some of the challenges for SVR10
EG: spend 2mins outside the ring

had to keep getting out of the ring for a count of 9 and then get back in
had to do that like 20times

that doesnt sound very hard.... just time consuming which is a different thing.
