Anyone played previous LOTR games? The last one I played was ROTK. This looks a lot like Dragon Age. I saw it in action two nights ago and it looks and plays really smooth.

Anyone else a fan of LOTR games?

I hosted a game last night and had 2 randoms join me. I enjoy it in shortbursts. I just like being able to explorer the LOTR realm but I have to admit.. without that it would be a fairly generic action RPG.

Nice graphics.

After playing Skyrim, it comes up... a bit short like Gimli.

Played it a little today (PC) and found it uninspired and monotonous. If you're in the mood for an action RPG, there's always The Witcher series or Mount & Blade.

Hmm, probably closer to TFU, although this is a co-op experience. Best experienced with friends imo.

It uses the Jackson-verse of LOTR, including the "look", environments and characters but not the playable characters.

Many locations that are not featured in the movies are in the game. Locations include the Ettenmoors, Fornost, Mirkwood and Mount Gundabad. Locations from the movies also appear in the game. Players can explore Bree and Rivendell and interact with the characters there which include Gandalf, Elrond, Frodo, Bilbo, Legolas, Arwen and Aragorn. Characters from the books can also appear in the game. The Ranger Halbarad, Radagast, and Elrond's sons Elrohir and Elladan are just some of the characters that players will encounter.[8] Wikipedia

Well that's a given :D

It's still nice to be able to play with some characters you know and love once in a while and it's even more refreshing when they don't totally stuff the game. As we all know its hard to find a good movie/comic/book game adaption. I hear this isn't the best, but sounds as though it could be a little fun for a while with a friend. Still on my list to get sometime this year :D
Plus by the time I get around to buying it the collectors edition may be on sale and my honest opinion is that it looks quite solid. Good detailing on the figurine.

Ended up selling my copy today. I just cant get into it... the combat is just so boring and the story is very mediocre... really disappointed with this game, was hanging out for it :(

Honestly I'd probably avoid it until you see it for $15... its extremely repetitive and lots of segments felt tacked on (as if the story ran for 3hrs and they added in 4hrs of filler).

I was most looking forward to the story, but its just hard to look past the mindless gameplay. I'd give it a 5.5/10 maybe.
