can anyone help me out in terms of ATTACKING strategy?
i am fine with defending (to an extent), however when i am attacking and taking the ball back up starting from my own half, the opponent outnumbers me.

what i mean is, if i dont pass, they always take the ball off me, and when i do try and pass, i never have any open teammates!

when i play against my friend, the moment he gets the ball he always seems to have SOMEONE open, and takes it all the way to my goalie. stealing the ball from him is a flip of the coin really, whereas when i try and attack, i never have any open teammates!

and when i do have open teammates (rarely), the second i pass to them, IT GETS STOLEN!

any help would be appreciated. thanks

Weapon

The main trick when attacking is to hold LB when you pass. This makes the passer continue on a run where he usually ends up being open, then you can pass it back to him. You can keep on spamming this until you are at the opponents goals.

thats what i try and do lol. it only works for 3-4 passes, but then the opponent just overwhelms me. a lot of the time i end up passing back as well, and since i pressed LB, the one thats already in front goes even more ahead and makes it impossible to pass back lol.

If your player with the ball is getting overwhelmed by players then there is obviously a player free. When no one is going for you, run. When people are sprinting at you, pass.

Play with two up forward (4-4-2, 4-1-2-1-2, 4-2-2-2, 5-3-2... etc) to allow you to have more options up front, and try changing the strategy to offensive by pressing right on the d-pad.

Also, don't be afraid to pass backwards. Keeping possession is a lot more important than running into a stacked defence.

this is the first im hearing of using the d-pad...
what other functions does it do?

Not much except you can change the aggressiveness of your team. Ultra defensive, defensive, balanced, offensive, ultra offensive. I start the game of as offensive, if I take the lead I will go down to balanced. If i'm losing with not much time left, I will go ultra offensive.
