I bet it's not so much a new fallout as a massive new expansion. Bethesda have been listening to my complaining about there being so little to do in Fallout 3 and the map being so small by the looks of it. Hehe, I always win.

okay after more researching beth are workimg WITH them not the other devs doing it by themselves this ensures beth also spend time on TES:5 but how cool!! New fallout next year and in 1-2 years time TES!

Oh and this fallout isn't a sequel hence the title Fallout:New Vegas not fallout4: new vegas

Obsidian contains some members who worked with the original team who made the original fallout titles. Obsidian only did kotor 2, not the first one

Well they (Obsidian) did a good job making the second KotoR game in a series they didn't have experience with. So I'm pretty glad they're doing it because they now have experience with making great RPGs.

I still think it'll be an expansion. Bethesda only just purchased the rights to the series to work on the series and develop it. They wouldn't let people ruin it by creating crappy quality spinoffs.

Kind of like what Shivering Isles was for Oblivion. Las Vegas would be the Shivering Isles for Fallout3.

They would have been working on the title for well over a year now. from what i read its not really an expansion, its just a game on its own. Beth are participating in the titles creation.

It will have the guys who helped create the original Fallout games working on it. Obsidian are basically Black Isle Studios working on it again. Beth wouldnt let it be released by people who would do a bad job of it. This title will be a hit. a good example is Halo 3: ODST- Same controls etc as halo 3, but in a different setting. This is most probably what New Vegas will be like.

this is good news! i didn't really like fallout 3 because it was less fallout 2 and more Oblivion.

Simply put, this move guarantees more depth in the quests.

edit:

OMG OMG I AM NOW OFFICIALLY STOKED.

its got the lead designer and team of the original fallouts (and Van Buren aka the real fallout 3) working on it. This is awesome! looks like it'll be a true fallout sequel to the first 2 running on the oblivion engine. I'm looking so forward to this, looks like Beth really are thinking straight here and handing it off to a company that 'gets' the universe. this game is guaranteed to kick ass
