6 Weapons Buffed in Modern Warfare 3

Weapon Balance – We have started our pass on weapons here at the studio and are testing out some changes. We are just hitting ARs and SMGs at first. Our current philosophy on this right now is not to nerf but rather to buff those weapons that are under-performing. Not sure yet on the eta of when these changes will go live.

The weapon buff Mark Rubin mentioned in that list finally took place and it resulted in 6 under-performing weapons being buffed. These weapons being:

FAD (Increased damage and range).
M16A4 (Increased damage and fire rate)
AK47 (Reduced kick)
UMP45 (Increased damage)
MP5 (Increased fire rate)
PM9 (Reduced kick)

MW2 and MW3 both had a SCAR weapon, and in both games the SCAR was by far the most balanced and efficient assault rifle. I rarely use other weapons.

Modern Warfare 3 Xbox 360 Update 1.20 Patch Notes, New Playlist Update Released

Earlier today, Infinity Ward released the patch notes for title update 20 or patch 1.20 for the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 3.

The patch was believed to be the nineteenth downloadable update, but Infinity Ward’s Community Coordinator, Candice Capen, has clarified to MP1st friend Moriarty1975 that the numbering on the official forums is off.

She explained, “18 was actually 19 and 18 was an emergency,” thus today’s patch was indeed title update number 20 or patch 1.20. She also stated that the issues with “the Chaos mode leaderboards have been fixed.”

Here are the patch notes:

Support for Elite drops 19-24 (the new drops are now live for paid Elite subscribers on Xbox 360)
Matchmaking improvements to use first party country if DML data isn’t available
Additional logging for matchmaking
Update to Face Off spawn logic
Added logic to make Terminal count as an original map
Fix for XM25 challenges not registering properly
Fix for exploit that allowed change of a UAV into a second Ballistic Vest
In addition, a playlist update was also released to “fix [the recent] issue when using attachments with new M16A4 changes in Modern Warfare 3 - X360 version: 1.8.594.1 PS3 version: 1.8.475.4,” announced Infinity Ward. As you may recall, six weapons were buffed recently, including the M16A4.

I don't know if it's just me but the matchmaking seemed very off after the update. I was put into Face/Off matches with four people and a very poor host, time and time again. Domination matches always seemed to have issues and the Host always seemed to cut out. Lag was unbearable last night. Was it just me??

It is fun, I was ranked #250 in the world for one of the maps. I wish survival was like this, except you have to buy all the perks and guns. However, Chaos mode doesnt have enough maps.

Yeah, I guess they're waiting to see the response, rather than release it with like 10 maps?

I've played a few hours. It's ridiculously fun. Won't get to play again until Sunday because I am swamped at work and in my awesome social life the next few days lol

Plenty of people still playing :P 60,000+ on last night when I logged on.

Not an EB Games member though. Trying really hard to reach 1.0 kill:death ratio before BLOPS 2 launches.

60k+ is basically dead for a CoD game :P I remember WaW having around 200K people playing. It's a shame to see that game have basically no one playing.

Was it MW2 who broke 1million online players? I remember it always having a massive number of players online [MOG]

This long after launch, 60,000 is about normal. MW2 hit 1 million in January I think? But come September 2010 it was around the 40-60,000 mark.

I remember it hitting 1million. I think the highest i seen ever online (from what i can remember) was 800 something thousand.

I guess this long after launch i was expecting it to still be around 80-100

Holy shit, really?

I started playing Blops again last weekend and the lag was unbearable. Worst I've personally ever experienced. Even CoD4 wasn't as bad as I experienced. Played for about 4-5 hours straight, didn't improve. Went into CoD4 for a bit and the matches were smooth.
