This game needs to get hyped up, NOW! So here are some details:

Game: Alan Wake
Developer: Remedy Entertainment.
Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
Genre: Psychological Action Thriller
Platforms: Xbox 360 and PC
Release Date: Spring 2010 US (around March-April-May)
FAQS
What or Who is Alan Wake? Alan Wake is a famous book writer, however in the past few months/years Alan has lost his inspiration to write. His wife Alice takes Alan on a "holiday" to Bright Falls so he can get some inspiration to encourage him to write again. Things however, go into disarray when his wife Alice goes missing; and his latest book, one that he can't even remember writing, comes to life. It is now up to Alan to find and retrieve his wife.

What is the main purpose of the game? Basically you are Alan and you must search around the town of Bright Falls to locate Alice; one main feature of the game is that the monsters Alan fights are weak to light, and it can be seen in trailer that Alan uses various objects which Emmit light to weaken his foes.

How come i have not heard of Alan Wake? who are Remedy Entertainment? The reason why Alan Wake is known very little of is because it has been so long in development and with little or no detail being released. Remedy Entertainment are best known for their award winning "Max Payne" games.
cant wait to start playing this, waiting for the GSL to start
Alan Wake sure drinks alot of coffee, given the amount of coffee thermos he picks up. It's amazing that he can keep the torches / lanterns steady, and able to shoot straight.
;)
Anyway, imo the game gets better and scarier (with many outstanding sequences) as it goes along. This is a very good thing.

Good to hear it gets better, I haven't started this yet as RDR has been soaking up my gaming time... [Derp]

I totally agree. - Each chapter is better than the last.
i am tossing up whether to go get this right now, is it worth the purchase??
anyone?
I beleive it is, especially with the DLC they have planned for it. Plus it was very enjoyable, kinda creepy too, made me jumpa few times.
cool thanks, I just got it anyways and played the intro. pretty sweet so far
I finally picked up the game today. I've played up to the start of Ep 2. Great game so far. Can't wait to see what's in store.

With the DLC, it won't extend the narrative, but that is what I read, you will have to double check on that.
Finished this on Sunday. Overall, I found it good with some annoying bits. The ending to me seems abrupt, but considering DLC coming, it's OK.
The overall atmosphere, sound effects, voice acting, and music is excellent. The run-dodge, driving, and the 'indicator' used to point where to go, weren't implemented well imo.
To me, the best episode is number 3. I also liked the first one, the final part of number 5, and the last one. What episodes were your favorites?
Anyway, looking forward to more. Also, hope that Remedy makes a sequel.

Funny that after all the hype it fell under the radar when it was released due to Red Dead. I will probably pick this up later on.
bought, this played it, I was looking forward to the open world experience only to find out all of the open world aspect in the game was scraped...

graphics and gameplay was great...resolution not so great (540p was a joke)...it was blurry as hell on a 1080p screen.

Was scrapped a loooooong time ago. Resolution was an issue, but I think the graphics were pretty good. But yeah, the sandbox aspect was scrapped a long time ago. Get with the times man :P
^ to above

man I havent been following this game very closely, it wasnt famous like the other big xbox 360 games..it was announced in 2005/2006,then it went off the radar..then saw a demo back in 2008...then off again untill 2009.

i enjoyed the game, but i still wonder what the game could have been if the open world was included.

I'm kinda glad this wasn't open world, I'm a bit over the sandbox style games at the moment, thats why I'm gonna wait before I give red dead a go. I think Alan Wake works better as a tight structured experience, open world would have just dragged the game out needlessly IMO
Is the first DLC due today?

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be released sometime this week.
Sorry, but is it true this is coming to PC? I'd really like to play it.
i entered my code for the DLC (despite having returned the game).. now xbox has said on their facebook post that you can't get the DLC if you have already entered your code. Many people did and they are furious.
Apparently if you send them the code, they can send you a new one or something..
but now i'm just like meh.. the whole game was a joke anyway.

That hardly seems called for. If you don't have the game why does it matter? Codes will be sent to those fools anyway.

The Signal seems a tad tougher though that may just be the fact i haven't played it for a month or so.
Finally I'll get a chance to play this after the weekend. It just kept getting pushed back down my list, but it's certainly one game I want to make sure I play.

Scrap that comment, MS sent me the code to my email today..
Perhaps they knew i'd entered it earlier.. or it is automatic?
Anyway, at least they fixed it up..
