XBOX 360 ... Arcade or Premium?

Hey guys. Sorry I started this thread, I tried to find a similar thread to post in ... with no success.

At the moment, I'm thinking of purchasing an XBOX 360 ... for reasons I cannot tell

But I'm tossing between the Arcade version and the Premium.

I was viewing this:

and just want to ask a few questions.

1. If I get the Arcade, I can add a 20GB HDD onto it ... right?
2. How much is Media Remote? From JB? Is it worth it? =/
3. The Arcade has a ethernet port, as well as a HDMI port ... right?

That's pretty much all I want to know. I just want to know if $498 is a worthwhile price for a 360 Premium (Big W).

Trust me, buy a premium! It's really worth the extra 150 or 200 whatever. a 20GB Hard Drive is like 100 bucks on its own. AND it comes with component video cables, seriously, just spend the extra 150, its worth it! It's also more cost effective, buyin a new HDD and a Component Cable will set u back around the same price as you'll save if u buy an arcade

actually the 20gig is 160 if you buy it from a shop, 120 gig is 199

You would seriously be stupid to buy an Arcade. Worst deal ever. The arcade really is targeted at those who don't know better and buy it, then realise they need a HDD and end up forking out more.

yeahh well pretty much it is,, and dont Big W do a deal when you buy a premium for $498 you get like 2 games or something?? ahh well $498 is still pretty good for a 360

Just double check that the Big W one has HDMI. WOW sight & sound sell the Premium for $497 or therebaouts, and they're refurbished which may not have HDMI.

As of the end of April, there is also a new Arcade pack, for $499, that includes Halo 3 AND GTA4. So at today's retail prices, that makes the console $270.

There is no reason not to get the Premium...or save for a little longer and get an Elite. Arcade is really for casual gamers and families imo.

Yea, I understand that. It's either Premium or Elite.

My new question though, is whether refurbished is a no-go or consider if it's only $399 ...

why r u trying to be so cheap, a refurbished xbox 360 is just not worth saving 'only' $100. Buy a brand new 360 which is very cheap and u are assured of a quality 360 if u look after it correctly. It sounds like u are really tight with your money/your mums money so how might i ask will u be able to afford games (which are of course needed to enjoy a 360) if u are in two minds on which 360 to buy. Just get the freaking 360 pro pack and u wont regret it

Wow, ouch.

Why I'm being "cheap", is because I already have a PS3. Purchasing the 360 isn't necessary on my part, but I'm considering it.

Money? Not a problem. I already own 14 PS3 games (one of which is Rock Band imported from the US).

My real thoughts is whether it's justified to purchase a 360, even though I already have a PS3.

Now that you probably understand what I'm thinking. What do you think?

I have a PS3 and 360 as well, probably not advisable to get a refurbished one because it may not be the best quality but since its actually being sold not just sent by Microsoft it may be of better quality. I would probably try to get EB to price match BIG W's price on the new console because they specialise in that sort of thing and apparently they replace it if it breaks, Big W on the Other hand dont want to ever hear of it again after you buy it as I found out!! I am getting my box to send my Xbox in soon!!

Lol, I'm working on it now hahaha

All these uni assessment are in the way ... (of gametime AND worktime ... have to work 1 day a week now because of uni *sigh*)

PS: One question. You know how GTA4 will be censored in Australia, will the British version of the game work on an Australian 360 console?

I'm presuming it would because both are PAL regions, but I'm not sure about the Region 2 and Region 4 business (or is that for movies only?)

Region 2 and 4 are for DVD's. i'm not sure about the regions for games. Some are region free though.

You can always import from NZ anyway.

I think PAL (region 4) is UK and NZ (and AU) but only 90% sure so dint take only my word, so only PAL games and DVD's will work on a PAL console (except for region free disks as metioned above)

If you guys want to know, I just bought a 360 Premium from Big W for $498.

Edit: My 360 Premium has a HDMI port, and the drive is a BenQ. Is this the newer model? Is this the model with the extra heatsink inside?

I want to know if I have a 360 that's prone to the RROD.

Just telling u DON'T go the arcade its not BC, yea its cheaper but then u have to buy a hard drive, component cables and media remote... all those thing add up to the same price as the 360 pro

Yeah, the arcade bundle is for families and really isn't worth it imo. Doesn't give you the full "360" experience.
