Is AWA a good brand to go with? Because I can get a 42" AWA LCD for around $600 at Big W. I know a dude that works there.

not quite...it's 26inch which is not really small in crt terms but in lcd its a baby i suppose. I actually don't mind it, it does the job for me well enough and it doesn't seem anywhere near as small when you're sitting in front of it as what it looks in that picture.

from what i've heard and read the best of the cheap brands would probably be conia. of the chinese brands i'd go with hisense. the tv in that photo is hisense picture quality is very good as some of my friends with the more expensive branded tv's have commented and comes with a three year warranty. and it's cheap. that cost me $675 and i imagine they would have dropped further.

as for awa.... i couldn't tell you.
