What a.... Unique logo choice

With around 2 weeks to go until the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics will dominate international TV's for two weeks (July 27th - August 12th)

With thousands and thousands of people flocking to London to catch the Olympics, It's going to get busy, But for those of us who are back home, It's going to be another exciting event.

So who's going to be catching some / any of the events? I might get a few depends what's being televised on the day. Cheering Australia on for GOLD ;)

Nobody really cares about real (there's a better word out there) sports in the Olympics.

Olympic soccer is a non-event, and that's the 'world' game.

I care. And im sure many others do, including LMA0. Olympics Bball is so intense, whole different game to the NBA, but still with the stars of the NBA. And saying Olympic soccer is a "non-event" is totally barbaric ( [MOG] ). It's basically a gateway for the young players of the world.

Australia just sucks at most of the "real" sports in the olympics.

They said on the radio this morning that she was joking... media still seems to be carrying on with it though. Pretty woeful comment. Right up there with Steffenson last week accusing the AOC of racism. Why do they not get kicked off the team? Complete joke, they get their 3 weeks in the sun and have to shoot their mouths off.

Don't want to bang on about it, but Olympic Soccer would be much bigger overseas. They don't push it here because no one knows the young players yet (would have been different if Beckham was there). It would be kind of like how the Melbourne media would get excited about the AFL draft, anyone out of the loop couldn't give a toss.

Basketball does I think? Kind of a non-event though because the only way it will get publicity is if Team USA lose.

Most individual sports have world championships as well, they just don't compete with the Olympics. I think it has more to do with the size of leagues/annual competitions.

Yea basketball has the world championships every 2 years. Spain, Lithuania, Brazil, Argentina, France and of course the US are the real powerhouses.

Most sports have some kind of world championship, how else would you determine the number 1 team i guess.

remember the 1972 Olympics when the Soviet Union beat USA in basketball calling the Russian team was cheating so as protest the USA team didn't accept their silver medals.
So anything can happen in Olympics.
