It isn't a crime though, it is crimes.

And footballers are role-models and they earn a lot of money, why should they not be as accountable as regular workers?

If I did what Connors and Cousins did, as a Government employee I'd be fired straight-up for damaging the Government, I wouldn't get multiple warnings and sanctions.

And really, the shit West Coast have copped for winning that premiership with a druggie and the amount their name is tainted, they probably would have sacked Cousins earlier. They lost a lot of supporters because of it and no parent would want their kid to support a club like that. It has damaged their name and will take them at least another decade for all that damage to be completely gone.

People need to realise that Connors has had a heap of chances in the past, this was the final straw no matter how bad it was. The reason he didnt put up a fight is because he knew he was gone as soon as he turned up at the club.

Apparently he & Dimma nearly came to blows in the meeting that ended his career, my money would've been on Dimma lol.

What Richmond did is more important for building a successful culture than giving a spud player continual chances to let the club down & poison the playing group.

What is more worrying in all of this is how Ben Cousins cameo appearance has done more harm than good with one of the Tiges potential superstars.

To hear a select few still remain in contact with him namely Martin who is a party boy even though Cuz is a bad influence druggy who mixes with the wrong crowd has warning signs all over it from my POV.

I do agree, but then you have Cotch come out and say he wouldn't be as great if not for Cousin's guidance. So I don't know.

Yeah true but there are always better influences that could've made just as big an impact as a role model, you definitely don't want an up & coming star hanging with someone who's losing his battles against drugs.

Martin is very impressionable & the type of player who probably could go off the rails if he doesn't have proper guidance, Richmond can't afford to have one of their best midfielders go down that path.

So we just place all the blame for Cousins' issues on the late Chris Mainwaring, because he was possibly a bad influence on an impressionable young man? I don't buy it. Martin makes his own choices and if he chooses to be a douche in the future then he should cop all the blame himself.

Connors probably doesn't deserve his spot. And the repeat offences don't bode well for him, obviously! But I cannot buy into the crap they spit out, one player is one player, he does not define or impede the 'culture' of the club. What they have done is reactive and overbearing. Good luck to them.

I think we learn at a pretty young age that growing up to be the footy players that we see through the media's eyes is not the best idea.
