In a possibly futile attempt to keep the number of erroneus threads down, I think its a good idea to have a thread for those interesting "Look what I found on the Internet" moments.

This is not another silly thread for jokes (but feel free to let rip) but more an attempt by me to repair some of the damage I have done to this site with my non-sensical ramblings of which I think I am on the brink of repeating as I type this.

The links can be related to anything, even games/console info if you so wish.

I'll kick it off with this, looks like a blu-ray player for xbox360 is in development, by lite-on as well, (good company)

Epic fail of a list, only 3-4 actually had something to do with gaming, and since when did starcraft become an MMO??

I think it is a pathetic list written by an anti-gamer campaigner, especially the one about the abusive parent beating his child to death, child services missed that he had broken her arm two weeks previously - one even states that one of the deaths was a "ticking time bomb" waiting to go off due to heart scarring - the kid could of healed over having a wank FFS or a game of footy with his mates, but because he just happens to heal over in an arcade parlor it gets over sensationalized

LOL I got a mate to waterboard me for curiosity sake, must say it was defiantly not a pleasant experience - but highly recommend doing it though

M$ have put some job ads out looking for server programers to work on their servers to support 300k players.

developmag.com sez: Requirements for the role include "building a backend capable of hosting a 300,000 player game in real-time with real money on the line (anti-cheating, etc)" the post ing says.

I doubt we will see games with 300,000 players online in the form of shooters/RTS'/racing games or whatever. This will be for games like 1 v 100 and primetime games where there are prizes at stake. Their intentions to cater to 300k players is probably just to ensure their servers are capable of much more than just 100.

Atleast, that is the intended use so far. There has been a bit of talk about MMO's lately.

I would say 1 vs 100 as I'm sure it will have a spectator mode hence extra players. They would be making money off of the in game advertising for this would be my expectation.

The MMO's is a good point as well.

After seeing all this shyet about Irans election and the censorship of their people, I've decided I'm gonna see if I can help them get some chat out, by creating a proxy for them.

I'm thinking about trying to create a proxy to enable Iranian communications out, at the moment I'm thinking by using Squid and setting up a trusted ACL file pointing to JUST the Iranian IP blocks could work.

There is a public list being compiled of all the currently open proxies, there is also an email address that you can send newly created ones too, I figure I'll send it to that and see if i can get my proxy traffic to copy the squid cache to a comment/blog yola-site (easy drag and drop dojo application) - or maybe a generic twitter account.

Could be interesting, especially if it works.
