What are you listening to? The Official Music Discussion

15654 Views 674 Posts Social
Until we finally get a Music MMGN channel, and seeing as though the "What Am I Listening To" thread has gone to hell, I thought it would be good time to create a general music discussion thread.

Unlike the previous thread, this is for general discussion. You are allowed to post what song you're listening to, as long as you post some commentary to incite discussion/debate about the track. In other words, actually DISCUSS music, as opposed to simply posting what you're listening to.

Any off-topic posts will be deleted.

To start things off, who should I see while I'm in Europe? Billy Idol in Prague, Anvil in Amsterdam, D-12 in Amsterdam, or Green Day in Prague?

Yeah, that didn't exactly work out. A couple days before general tix went on sale, her partner broke up with her so she was a complete wreck. Needless to say, her excitement over Soundwave was completely shot.

I still have hope that they won't sell out in the time it takes for me to generate some dosh. I think its time I start handing out some more resumes around town.
Don't quote me on this Raro, but I might be able to sell you a ticket.

I paid for my exes ticket and I don't know if she wants to still go or not, she's not speaking to me at the moment, but when she decides to talk to me again I'll let you know.

Wow now that sucks a big fat one..

Sorry to hear that, man. Hopefully she'll come around soon and still be down for the show.

I'll need two tix anyway (one for my missus too) so I'll probably end up scouring eBay or music forums if worse comes to worse.

Mod's note: I might take this opportunity now to remind all members that this thread is, indeed, a MUSIC DISCUSSION thread. The difference between this thread and other "What are you listening to?" threads across MMGN is that this thread aims to generate discussion about music in general.
That's not to say that you can't post what you're listening to...but at least make an effort to speak a little about the artist/song/album and inform members of the artist's music.

I'm simply re-iterating what the first post in this thread clearly states. Let's not degrade this rad thread into another generic "Wat r lisen 2" thread.
Alrighty then.
Rick Astley has actually released another song. I have heard it, and it is quite good. The link to the song is in the previous post of mine.
I got 4 songs of his: Never gonna give you up, She wants to dance with me, Together forever and Whenever you need me.

So cheesy.

Brilliant! ****ing sore I missed them on their last tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan. I still have high hopes that they'll appear again for Soundwave or something.

I need more djent...Periphery and Meshuggah are all I have. 8-string goodness [Derp]
[MOG]
Periphery was a fluke find for me.

Mnemic are another band that have the same sort of grind but nowhere near as technical.

Get your fix!!

That's awesome, Seven. Kind of reminds me of a djenty Pantera in a weird way. Loving the groove. I can really get into this. Many thanks, sir!
That is one of their heavier songs, you'll find some electronica influences here and there in other songs but nothing too bad.
Yeah I checked them out a bit. They've got a big industrial vibe about them. Pretty tasty. I'll give them another couple listens and see if anything sticks.

EDIT: Now I'm in an industrial metal mood...and what's better than some good ol' Aussie industrial death metal?

Now playing: Junky - The Amenta
I've been listening to Paul Kelly a lot lately. Greatest Australian singer/songwriter EVER!!!

No-one has ever trolled the music industry as hard or as successfully as did The KLF.

Wow. I thought I'd be the only person here who thought that.

He's our Bob Dylan. [MOG]

No. I heard about it but haven't checked it out yet.

EDIT: Naw. It's finished.

I really dug the concert JJJ put on of people doing his covers.
I downloaded them as they came out. They're just incredible.

I'm listening to the triple J tribute CD right now ;)
