We've had many threads involving NRL, but never a general discussion and with the trials starting. What better time to make one.

I'm watching Dragons vs Souths now... only because they're not televising the good game, being Roosters and Tigers

Picks for the year my fellow New South Welshmen? Premiers, Wooden Spoons? If I had to put money on it, I'd go Roosters this year, Tigers will still definitely win though, we're leading the Roosters 12-6 and it's only ten minutes in. [MOG]

Probably not, theres probably a large amount of New South Welshman and Queenslanders living in Melborune though.

Origin should be this.

Game 1 - NSW or QLD
Game 2 - QLD or NSW
Game 3 - Victoria.

Seems fairer that way since both teams are guaranteed to play at home (which benefits the fans aswell!)

I like the idea of playing a game overseas. Really broadens the market for League, there's only three countries who are decent at it. Aus, NZ and the UK.

I'd prefer for them to get more of Oz in the NRL first. I know they play some games over in Perth, But i'd like to see Perth have their own team.

Or maybe a new cup? Aus cup? state vs state kind of thing.

Ehhh, I don't think it would take over AFL as the dominant sport, even with more teams. Weren't they talking about cutting out teams last year?

Well i know that theres a businessman over in Perth trying to buy a team or start his own. Also read in the paper that Penrith are looking to become 'West Sydney', so maybe this means the axing of another western club. I hope not, it's the heartland. Would love to see an outback team in NSW considering they spent over a mil on the new stadium in Mudgee.

France definately play and there are a few others. They're all terrible though. They play over in the States and Canada aswell. In fact, the first ever game of league was the US v Canada.

Not to out-do AFL but just to get more west coast involved. I know it's Perth, But there has to be some talented kids over there, right?
Not sure about cutting teams, I heard something like that a few years ago, I think it's all stable now though.

Ah okay. I think at this stage it might be a little tight to squeeze in anymore teams. Although having a team from Perth would definitely be a great start in expanding the game.

Yeah, I don't know what they'd have to change within the system. But i'll bet my bottom dollar that within the next 3-5 years there'll be a Perth team

If they bring in a Perth team they'll definately bring in a Central Coast team. I think they're pretty keen on keeping an even amount of teams.

They've been talking about bringing in a joint North Sydney/Central Coast team for ages now. I know we want an outer-state team but if 2 new teams were to be brought in Central Coast will be almost definate.

I honestly can't see 2 more teams being brought into comp.

1 more i can see (Perth) however i just can't see a Central Coast team happening.

I know you can't see it but the Nrl have been talking about it for years. It's what they want, not us that matters. And I know they want to bring in the Central Coast Bears, trust me on this one.

I think you'll find Perth will definitely get a side, the NRL won't want a bye round when they could be cashing in on another tv game, central Brisbane will get a side before the Central Coast.

Yea they will definately bring in two teams if they're gonna bring in new ones. Central Brisbane has been talked about a lot as well, but I have a strong feeling about the Central Coast.
