Large Hadron Collider being turned on this afternoon. Will you survive it?

So the Xbox HUEG particle collider known as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is being turned on for serz this afternoon (5 - 5:30ish). Basically, what this 27km, over $30 billion machine plans to do is recreate the theoretical Bing Bang that started the universe in hopes to find the Higgs Particle aka the God Particle by colliding protons and partciles into each other at ****neck speed. This, in theory, is the nature of how a black hole is formed.

I guess if this machine does end up creating a black hole and blowing us into forever, my biggest regret would have been not quitting my job sooner. I'll be damned if I get blown up being rich and successful...but not poor and working at Sizzler...god damnit.

So if you do survive the LHC...please post in this thread later tonight and tell us how awesome it feels to be immortal....or just....voice your opinions on the matter. It's been the talk of the intarbutts forever now so I'll be surprised if most of you haven't heard of it.

Btw, for the record (and to ease the worries of our younger members), it is HIGHLY DOUBTFUL that the LHC will create black holes to end the world. What the LHC plans to do isn't something new. Nature does this everyday in subtle ways. What the LHC plans to do is perform these acts in an environment where it can be studied in depth. The chnace of this huge sucker creating black holes is less than 0.1%...and even if a black hole does emerge, it will be so small and weak that it will collapse into itself. Remember, black holes don't expand so it won't swallow us in 4 years time or any rubbish like that.

isnt it being done in a huge magnetised tube? the magnetic field would nullify any chance of a black hole emerging anyway....

the thing i think about is if they are successful, it could start a chain reaction that could alter the properties of all matter in the universe. perhaps even undoing the big bang and return all matter to its 'pre-big-bang' subatomic state.
