brb suing Melbourne High School for not getting into Law.
I didn't want to do Law but that's not the point.

Anyone else think this is a huge joke?
Link? Or is it something you heard by word of mouth?

This site has some good lols: www.stellaawards.com/...

Shows some of the most ridiculous court cases that have happened, and some that are urban myths: www.stellaawards.com/...
Yeah, there's loads of those cases that seem to be reported in the papers.
I blame the infamous McDonalds coffee case. On the outside, it seems mad that she won, but, as far as I know (I haven't looked into it), it was justified on the grounds that the coffee was much too hot, and she suffered severe, life-threatening, burns.
And when a case like this gets reported, people make the leap that we're just being America and sueing over nothing. Well, yes. This is, indeed, sueing over nothing, but there's no way she'll get anywhere with it.

It's not worth complaining about. It's not worth reporting on.

Slightly off-topic, but The Age had a genuinely interesting, and convincing, article on the benefits of decriminalising drugs in Australia, while pointing out the flaws in the current system. That's what I call educating the public, and I'd like to see much more of that.

EDIT: 600+ comments on The Age website. I haven't seen that many since the 2010 election... crazy...

Agreed. It all seems to have gone to hell since.

Have you seen the photos of the McDonald's coffee case? You should Google them. They were pretty nasty to look at :<
Yeah, people really seem to attach way too much weight to a court case being filed than they should, quite likely because they read a story about it in the newspaper next to other stories about corruption or murder charges.

There is just no point in reporting on some silly people trying to abuse the system, when the system is designed to reject exactly these types of gold-diggers.

Heard this mentioned on Triple J earlier today too, just shook my head lol.
EDIT: This is referring to what I mentioned on the previous page, not the OP.

She won, BTW.

I always thought it came loose as she was holding onto it...

Different scenario.

Yeha, might want to edit that, I thought you were referring to the OP lol.

Anyone who's interested in the maccas case can read more about it here: www.stellaawards.com/...

Which is why I said I thought it had come loose as she was holding onto it.

I guess if it could have happened when she was sleeping then it's reasonable.
Bahahahahah:

I just got why you wanted me to edit.

@iamtom did you think I was saying this girl had already won? Ha, sorry. :P

I thought you were saying "Different scenario, that's reasonable".
Some kind of joke right?

He said Ms Ashton-Weir had been placed on ''internal suspension'' a number of times while at the school. She was also poorly organised and had been absent from class many times.

He said Ms Ashton-Weir's school reports noted she was intelligent but failed to complete school work.

This just says it's her fault. she was suspended and failed to show up to class and did not do her work which is her own fault for not passing her test because she decided to muck about.
