Scariest Video-Game?

So we've been talking about how F.E.A.R 3 is lacking on the scares, and I started to remember about some of the scariest games I've played.

Of course it changes depending on how old you are, but I remember Resident Evil 2 scaring the crap out of me when I was a kid.

Another would have to be the original F.E.A.R, along with Condemned: Criminal Origins who were both made by the same company.

What are some of the scariest games you've ever played. Silent Hill 2 was definitely frightening at the time.

I just didn't like their quicktime events. It would be okay on consoles where you use both sticks so the same movements are required, but on a mouse and keyboard it ended up being one hand pressing WASD and the other moving the mouse in the appropriate direction.

definately the first fear game, then fear 2, also the old resident evil games, more leaning towards resi 2, bioshock isnt that scary but i'd add it to teh list for suspense

till this day would have to be silent hill series.... no other games sends shivers down my spine especially when the radio static sounds to warn me of nearby enemies

OK fine.. Scariest game ever for me was and still is Silent Hill 1... First FEAR had it's moments also.

Amnesia was super fun. For some reason though, games where you are defenseless and have to hide are less scary then games where you're armed..

Yeah i think so too. I think cause instead of having to run away, you actually have to kill whatever is trying to kill you... its primal... kind of scarier that way.

I think that when your defenless, it's scarier, though that's my opinion. I find it scarier when it's impossible to just simply kill and get rid of what is trying to kill you, and having to run/hide and escape...

Silent Hill. Shame about the wii version which was more of an experiment/spinoff. Silent Hill 2 was excellent as was Silent Hill Origins. The trick is to play at night, alone, with the lights off and the volume up.
