Can't find a thread for this so thought I'd start one.

Anyone prefer PES over FIFA? I do generally, especially last year.

Always been a FIFA man myself, although I'm not getting a great vibe from FIFA 12. I do love how you can fake dive in PES.

Those screenshots look amazing getting a bit of Football Manager feel.

Yeah I much prefer PES over FIFA. FIFA to me is good but has too much flash. PES is more of a simulator if you ask me.

Heller, i love you, i really do but that is one of the most incorrect things i have ever read on here. [WTF]

Its like calling Afterburner more of a sim than Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Even the PES fans agree on this point - FIFA offers the sim experience but PES is more "fun" and arcadey. Get on football forums and you hear the argument ad nauseam.

Played them both and think this year FIFA 12 is far superior. Plus if you get good at it you can play online for $$$ and get your money back for the game :) Thats what i did last year

i havnt tried 12 but the past 3 pro evolutions have been horrible.

Pro evolution 6 is being over taken by fifa 12 maybe.

Pro evo 6 is still the most fun :P

Yeah, I don't get that though.

FIFA AI, imo, has always been a step behind PES. To me, a sim is a game that offers as realistic an experience as possible. With a sports game, it's generally being able to play a match and keep the scores realistic. In FIFA you can smash good teams 10-0 on the highest settings. You need to be a considerably better player on PES to get that sort of scoreline. The AI is merciless, and it slows the game down, get's you quite focused on your structure, passing. I don't feel that tactics and structure are necessities to beat the CPU on the hardest difficulty in FIFA.

Also, the through-pass works perfectly in PES 12 using the right analog stick. It's hard to pull off, but the dev has made it hard because the execution in itself should be hard. You can guide the off-ball player to the correct position, and I also don't think FIFA does this quite as well.

But overall I won't argue that FIFA is always the better option, mainly due to license, install base and just its general collection of features.
