Big Ant Studios is proud to announce that they are to develop Australian Rules Football for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Following up on the recent announcement that Big Ant Studios are expanding into Queensland, comes the exciting news that they are to produce a fully licensed AFL video game.

So Blue Ant are taking over from IR Gurus (thankgod for that). Lets see what BA can do.

So what do we know about it:

Release Date: Early 2010
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC
Mutiplayer: 4 player offline, 2 player online
Pre-Production: July 2008
No Publisher named at this point in time.

They have already started on it.

i meant 20 minute quarters:P total 80 minutes. But probably 400 goals every 2 hours. Thats if you do good. Currently i am at 3700 got a good 1000 from the mehod so far. Usually play 5 or 10 minute short games every know and then. It will come slowly but at least it won't feel like a grind.

DLC is coming with 2012 rosters and GWS.

Will also be sold at retail as AFL Live GOTY Edition.

is the wii version really like the iphone version? if so omg it sucks.

afl 2011 my most played sport game over fifa:p maybe its just my afl bias but i love it online. Only lost 1 game out of 150:P

Yeah the gameplay is crap compared to the others but it has a half decent career coach mode which the others desperately need.

better then cod at least. Better then any other sports games apart from fifa.

other sports games like madden nba and hockey are boring as dog shit.

Get good at afl and you will love it. Takes more skill to win then fifa thats for sure!!!!

I remember playing it and how often you'd get tackled. Eventually you get the hang of it, but still found it annoying.

Any idea how much they'll be offering the GOTY version for?

Lol that's not the definition of career mode.
Career mode is multiple seasons and also includes stuff like list management, trading, player growth and the draft.
It's pretty much the core of every sport game out there these days, what gives them most of their replay value. I was a little annoyed that I wasn't able to take over the dons and develop their relatively young list into a premiership side over a few years in the ps3 version of AFL.

I know people will complain about the price, but considering this update is exactly what EA does with their yearly retail releases, the price is actually really good!

On another note, has anybody noticed that every time you play GWS it is raining? I've played them maybe 4 or 5 times and every game is raining with crazy winds. I always win, but it is a battle. They are some of the toughest rounds I've played.

I was more than happy to hand over that amount of money to get what we did, Ross the Bigant CEO showed an example of the costs and it showed that even at this price the company would still lose out marginality.

Very hard to complain about the price considering it's such a small developer.

Not really fair to say that it's the same as Fifa. Maybe a few years ago, but now Fifa has free roster updates, and Fifa 13 will run on rebuilt gameplay compared to Fifa 12.

But AFL Live shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Fifa. The two markets are totally incomparable.

I'd be more than happy to pay for an upgrade like this yearly with a new game every 3 or so years -- even more so when they release the next one with a career mode.
