This is looking to be the best DragonBall Z game and representation of the Anime yet, they've really gone the extra mile with this, create your own character mode and a story to go along with that.

Along with one of the most brilliant DragonBall Z story modes ever that captures most of the great scenes from the Anime and replicates them with in-game graphics, and Anime style cutscenes that look like Z, but with modern animation.

It also apparently has 30 minutes worth of those Anime cutscenes, which funnly enough is double what Z Kai had of new animation that looked like it was done in paint. :P

Been planning on grabbing the limited edition. It works out to be about $93 AU which is probably less than it is here anyway, and figurine itself is probably worth just about that aswell.

Origins 2 was fantastic. Brilliant DS title, hope they expand on it on the 3DS and make another DragonBall Z game similar to it or the Legacy of Goku.

Same! Budokai 3 was probably the peak of DragonBall Z games back then, and I get the feeling this may top it.

I loved Raging Blast 2, but the lack of a story mode made it not feel like a proper DragonBall game, imo. Because just about every DragonBall game bar that one had one.

budokai was a fighter. and it had a good story mode. Also the fighting was really accessible. ALSO it had those customisation thingies.

I just have never really got into the tenkaichi style yet...

I like both styles, but I personally favor Budokai as all of the Budokai games really added something different to the table, and shifted it around for Story mode to make things a little more interesting.

Budokai 1 had brilliant cel-shaded animated cutscenes, Budokai 2 had that board game thingy, and Budokai 3 had a world map to fly around on and secret events, and lots to do. I could argue that capsules and the like make Budokai competitive, but I wont. Budokai is a more traditional fighter, which while not the best representation of the anime feels and plays like a competitive fighting game (I'm pretty sure 3 actually does/did have a competitive scene)

As for Tenkaichi, well I loved 1 and 2, never played the 3rd, it felt more like the Anime, and the full 3D environments made for big battlefields, but to be honest, it felt really easy and, well a waste on those giant environments at times. The story modes were really enjoyable for me though, lots of what-if's and cutscenes.

Ultimate Tenkaichi looks to be a mix of them both though, so it should please both fans.

Simple reason for that, Raging Blast Sold better than Burst Limit. Apparently this is Spikes (developer of Tenkaichi, Raging Blast) last DBZ game ever though, so they're really going all out with this one

Can Quick Time Events (QTE) be deactivated during fights?

No it cannot. This is not possible to deactivate parts of the fighting system, no fighting game is doing that.

QTE are done both create a faithfull Dragon Ball Z experience by providing a fast action gameplay and possibilities to fight back.

This system is an effort to stop the attack spammers, and force players to learn how to avoid front assault that will always trigger a QTE. As an example, managing to get in the back of opponent won't trigger the QTE and let you land combos without being countered.

The spammers shall always find a way.
