"A 13-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl is being sued by a classmate over a tennis court mishap at one of Queensland's top private schools in the latest blow to playground fun.

The claim alleges Julia had hit classmate Finley Enright-Burns in the eye with a tennis ball during a tennis lesson at the Mudgeeraba school last October."

Are you kidding me? This type of thing really worries me about the future of society. If kids are playing tennis, there's always a chance you're going to get smacked in the face with a ball. It's all part of the experience.

I fear for my children's generation where fun will be outlawed because everything leads to you being sued :*O

It alleges Julia was "smashing'' balls back to Finley on the baseline when the incident happened.

The claim says the tennis school failed to provide adequate supervision or protective eyewear and allowed Julia and Finley to stand too close together and Julia to hit two balls at once.

It's stupid crap like this that will eventually lead to kids not being able to play sports at school because everyone is too scared they will get sued. Pretty everything that has a silly warning label on it or stupid restrictions you can blame the greedy morons that sued the company/institution beforehand. There's enough of this kind of crap in America, leave the pathetic money hungry law suits over there, and it scares me how often it happens here. One loser ex-employee at my work was telling me he fell down the escalator at the local shops and was telling me he wanted to sue (he's always looking for a payout somewhere), I gave him such a serving telling him he should have been paying attention and it's not the shopping centers fault he's uncoordinated(he used to break heaps of stuff at work because he never payed attention). He deserved the discomfort for being stupid.
I would really enjoy launching a few hundred tennis balls out of high pressure spud gun into the faces of this kids parents. They shouldn't be showing their kids that this is the way to do things.

Thats such bullcrap that court cases like that are even taken on by the courts, but thats ambulance chasers for you. In 10 years are we going to get footballers suing for getting tackled?

I went to a private school, but we were no pansies. I rowed, played rugby and we even had our own rifle range!

Tennis of all sports, so much for "keep your eye on the ball" :P

Gees... it's an accident! My brother got whacked by a tennis ball in the eye and spent the large part of a week going back and forth to hospital. Doesn't mean you sue everyone in a 50 meter radius of the incident. [Facepalm]

I remember back at school playing hockey and i was chasing the attacker who decided to then swing their stick like a golf club smacking me in the forehead taking me off my feet (which i still have the scar). Oh! This happened at a school which I know very well (I'm not going to be specific since all you people will start stalking me ajajaja)

That school is massive. They have like an indoor tennis court and everything.
It took me a 40min walk from the sports field to the toilets. It's one of those school for the rich. It's insane [MOG] no wonder she got sued, they are money craving people lol
