What’s a good online Co-op game?

Hi! I haven’t played an online co-op game for a while now and i'm thinking about buying a new one.
Some of my favourite games are co-op ones but I’m not really sure what’s popular at the moment, the last thing I want to do is go out and buy a game no one plays!
I’ve had a look around at the forums but, I need some more help.

I don’t mind what type of co-op, the ones I have played in the past are Little Big Planet, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Resident evil……
That’s just to give you an idea but im open to any style!

It can be on 360, PS3, Wii or PC and if the game needs a head set or any other accessory I’ll buy it too.
So if anyone can suggest a game that’s out now or maybe one that’s going to be released in the future that lots of you guys play or will be playing I would really appreciate it! I’m just really tired of playing games by myself.

The Gears of War series on 360 is great for co-op.

Portal 2 is also fun co-op umm... Halo Reach (Halo games in general)

I'm madly obsessed with Marvel vs Capcom. It's multiplayer, but not really a co-operative game. The last proper co-op game I Played all the way through is Portal 2. It's brilliant! I bought Halo Anniversary too, but I've hardly played much of it :S

do these have campaign co-op? or just a genral short multiplayer type thing?

I do have that and it is awesome but i don't play online because id loose.... really badly. :P

I'm more of a Gears-player (1 and 3) but I play Anniversary campaign and Halo: Reach multiplayer from time to time. Very solid multiplayer.

I'd say for co-op the two aforementioned series, or Dark Souls (very very unique co-op, no other game like it) if you're into RPGs.

Perfect Dark on XBLA is another I'd recommend for co-op.

Army of Two is good for two player co-op. Little Big Planet, Left 4 Dead 2 and Lost Planet 2 are my favorite 4 player co-op game.

Oh wow, I actually have Army of two but haven't even played it yet. i forgot i even had it.
Do you play often because I have all those games except Lost Planet 2. I use to play those online but it started getting harder to find a game so i stopped.

Gears of War 3's multiplayer is rock solid. Very fun. I'm a bit bias of course, because I'm a long-time fan of the first title, which, back in the day, I played for hours upon hours without getting bored. Gears 3 brought the first one's feel (fast-paced, frantic) into its multiplayer, which is great. The co-op in the title (up to 4 players) is really good too, you should give it a go! Heck I'll play a match or two with you if you ever need someone to Gnasher with.

I second this, can't believe I forgot it. Saints Row 2 is actually really good as well, the co-op part of the game was totally underused and unrecognised; I only remembered its existence three years later when I started playing with my friend a couple weeks back! Excessively crazy but incredibly wacky fun.

Oh I wanted this game, I don't know why I didn't buy it when it was released!
Yeah I think I would rather voice chat, I don't really like running around randomly with other players, I would rather be able to communicate to know what we are actually doing.

Borderlands is good, as is Rainbow Six Vegas 2 & Splinter Cell Conviction Left 4 dead 2, Dawn of war 2 is pretty bad ass coop,

Yeah, you can pretty much play the entire campaign on co-op. Basically, everything can be played with a buddy. At least on Reach and Halo 3 to my knowledge.
