The end of EB Games?

The fact of the matter is that the court has opened up a big honking loophole that publishers -- who we all know would love to KILL the used game market -- will send their legal departments into overdrive to try to exploit if at all possible.

I mean, if it wasn't the death of the used-game market that killed off game retailers, it would eventually be digital distribution, but still, what do we all think about this?
Just look at this. -_-

Think this is more of a discussion on the evolution of gaming towards DD than it being in Australia :p

And yet do you see any PC gamers here saying its bad? The reason being we actually HAVE a whole DD system in place and functional. Most of us, including me, were most likely of the same mind as you guys. But the brilliance of the system eventually wins you over, and now I would never go back. Even to the extent I've re-bought every hard copy game I owned on Steam and given away the hard copies.

Most of us don't like the idea of it, but when its properly in place, you'll change your mind.

Did you ever think that he might just be talking about console games Mr. PC defender.?
And I'm pointing out the one platform with this system in place has embraced it despite having the same problem initially with no box or manual. I'm pointing out you guys say you hate it now but how can you assume you won't change willingly when just about all of us did?

Try reading my posts genius, there's nothing to defend, just saying you guys might change your mind when you see the prices and convenience DD offers.

Have you ever heard of sarcasm. ;)

And by the way I am fully aware of the works of DD as I have built my own custom gaming PC, so don't treat me like a noob ok.
It's already won me over, and I'm mainly a console guy.

You point is invalid as all 3 current console's make boatloads more cash than PC games...........Introducing DD only would kill their huge profit margins.

The Console companies know where their bread is buttered (Whether they like it or not)........

Nothing is going to change mate........

AHEM!!!!, Did anyone watch this!!!
IMO......... They will just live in Harmony Together
You do realise the profit margin on Digital Distribution is much higher than Retail despite the price being lower right? And that Steam has been seeing 100% growth every year since 2004?

Digital Distribution is not expanding, its exploding. And its being taken up by the publishers in droves because they make more money and cut out more middle men. We get cheaper games, they get more money from their games.

Consoles are selling boatloads because they're popular, not because they sell retail disc's. Digital Distribution is actually REVIVING the PC gaming industry, not killing it. Seriously, do some research on the success of Steam, you will see that DD will be a good thing for console gamers AND developers alike.

But... surely the consumer tell the companies what they like. Not the other way around...

Until there are no more retailers, at which point the publishers jack up their prices.
what's the point of everyone arguing, It's not like anyones going to change anyones mind. That's the whole reason why your arguing in the first place.

Already been done with a few games on Steam. MW2 is just one of them.

Yeah Exactly Right........

They are saying "We like our pretty box's....... Take them away and we will take away a massive slice of your profits".

It is and I like see them enforce here or anywhere really you have to understand people power is a big thing in the end Game makers only make money if there sell the games and if everyone decide not to buy their games because of this .Game makers will be in damage control *_*
Boycotting never lasts. If tomorrow, every publisher decided to stop shipping retail discs and only release DD, it will undoubtedly cause an uproar. But how long will the masses stand defiantly before they give in and buy the new, much-hyped game they had been anticipating and following for the past 6 months?

Do I have to quote myself to get attention?
Gah, I hate boycotters. I have a friend who's boycotting Facebook and Gloria Jeans at the moment >_>
