There ain't any general MK threads so here's one to discuss whatever MK related things you want.... though that's probably unlikely to happen much, thanks to the decline in the series.

Anyway, I just felt like saying that I picked up a Midway classics disc for PS2 with MKII and 3, and my god, they are still so awesome to this day. I thought they would have aged a lot, but they're a million times better than the newer MKs.

Killing gods by beating them viciously for several minutes, ripping their heads off and generally dismembering them in the most brutal ways possible.
It's the same thing, however GOW3 depicted it in a far more gruesome and graphically more realistic way than MK which like it or not also falls under the fantasy banner what with all the sorcerers, lizard people, gods, magic ninjas, spectres, mutants, monks, cyborgs and half dragon four armed dudes. =D

In splatterhouse you rip anuses out, that has an MA15+ sticker on it, that's all I need to say about that one. -_-

And the balls comment was really more aimed at Toki and those of his ilk rather than you, your opinion withstanding I was not under the impression that you personally were intimidated by this game and you can after all communicate effectively without everybody assuming you have head trauma or something. ;)

I believe otherwise, a 15 year old could play this with no problems. I don't see anything that gory about it at all

I'd like to think otherwise, the game IMO is a bit too much for a 15 y/o.

You also have to remember that most retailers are easy with the ratings and this could slip into the hands of a much younger person.

As much as you'd like to believe that it won't affect anyone, there's a pretty likely chance someone would get influenced by this game.

I can just see it now, someone freezing someone else then ripping there spine out. Also depends on the 15 yo, some are more mature than others. I know 15 year olds who could play this no problem.

If I played this when i was 15, it wouldn't make me want to rip some guys head off. I don't see the difference in this MK compared to any other one. This one just has more detail compared to the older ones but exactly the same things were done pretty much. For someone at the age of 15 to be influenced by this, they would already have problems to begin with

There is absolutely no reason this game should of been banned at all. There are far worse passing which have heaps more in it than this

You can't compare yourself when you were 15 to a good majority of 100,000+ kids playing this daily. You can argue that far worst games have gone through, but the board is inconsistent so there's really no argument there.

The problem lies in the bizarre Australian rating system, not the game itself.

I'd be more concerned about the rumored carmageddon game, zombies usually get a free pass.

Free pass!? L4D2 was bastardized for no good reason. Last time I checked, zombies weren't real, but the Australian Government decided that it was too much like real life. Can anyone tell me the last time they saw a swarm of zombie running around? Then there's the fact that killing the "riot cop" uncommon infected is a big Fu*k you to the Australian law enforcement. That is a big load of bull.

They have stupid reason for banning games, and they have good reasons. I do not think MK needed to be banned here, but it is not suitable for young kids, so I see why it was. 15 year olds would be able to take the game seriously enough without taking it the wrong way. This new Games Rating System cannot come sooner.

lol I remember when I was 5 or 6 years old and I played MK1 for the first time. I remember ripping out hearts and spines, burning people alive and also electrocuting as well. I can still see it all now but in 3D.

Yes, yes, this is exactly why I said usually, Dead rising and resident evil have just as much gore, but they pass just fine.
