Foxtel customers do not have to pay fee for "Foxtel by Xbox 360"

After it was announced that Foxtel would be coming to the Xbox 360, many wondered if, as an existing customer they would have to pay extra to enjoy watching streamed televisions via their Xbox 360.

According to news.com.au, existing customers of Foxtel do not have to worry about paying the extra costs associated with the new feature.

Existing Foxtel customers won't have to pay for the service, but will have to subscribe to the Gold XBox live service, which is about $8 month.

Whilst this is good news, I asked whether the Optus featuring Foxtel customers were also exempt from this fee to which a representative replied:

While it might be possible in the future, there is no plan at present for Optus to offer services through the 360. If these do become available in the future we'd be sure to let you all know.

Hopefully that future is near! =D.

In related news, Microsoft announced that two ISP's will be offering un-metred quota's for the service. As Telstra owns 50% of Foxtel and iiNet currently provides an un-metred service for Xbox Live..you can do the math :)

Damn...I have Foxtel but its through Optus. I guess I don't count for this...yet.

But in saying that, my Xbox TV is also connected to Foxtel/Optus so I really don't need the Xbox service to view cable TV :P

That's actually pretty good. You have to pay $20-30 extra for a second box don't you? I guess it'll waste your quota though if you're not with iinet (and nobody in their right mind is with Telstra).

I heard a rumour Fox Sports would be watered down because Telstra didn't want AFL games on it through XBL. But that makes no sense since they're the major holder of Foxtel. Hopefully just a stupid forum poster comment (as that's all it was).
