Microsoft has filed a patent for a new console which is designed to transfer the walls of an average living room into a whole new gaming experience! This patent was filed last year, but was only made public recently. The patent suggests that the console would project images on 4 sides of a room and the players movements would be tracked, moving them into a whole new gaming experience.
This effect would be made by a device named "The Environmental Display", which extends features beyond the TV, surrounding the user, the ultimate 3D experience. The patent also suggests that a player can see oncoming enemies, and maybe find one sneaking up behind.
3D Glasses and headwear may also be used to enhance the experience.
But with a console like this, there are pros and cons. A console such as this means that games may only be limited to first-person games, in which you are the person. This console would not work with games like Mario Brothers, which is a scrolling platformer game.
