I enjoy the occasional game of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and it’s one of the few games I regularly play online, with most other games in and out of my consoles like bad curry. However, I’m finding myself increasingly frustrated when playing online. Whether it be lag or a pre-pubescent kid screaming, Modern Warfare 2 can be an extremely annoying game that fills you with murderous rage and here’s why.
The grenade launcher attachment
Anyone who uses the grenade launcher attachment on a regular basis deserves a kick in the teeth. There’s absolutely no skill or fun involved for either party in what is nothing but a cheap trick used by noobtubers.
Lag ruining everything
The lack of dedicated servers was a massive turn off for PC users and even playing on a console, it’s clear why. Apparently, a recent patch tries to match you up with other players in your region, but it never works properly. Being disconnected or having to quit a game due to catastrophic lag not only ruins your win/loss streak, it only ever happens when you’re in red hot form.
Screaming kids
Why do 11-year-olds feel the need to screech like a cat stuck in a fan belt when playing a game online? Anyone under 15 should be banned from using headsets online; I’m sorry, but your voices are too annoying and you’re all blithering idiots.
Terrible DLC
The DLC packages (of which there are two) cost almost $20 each and two out of the five maps in each pack are old levels that we’ve played before. On top of that, I never really understood why Overgrown was so popular and when I first bought the Stimulus Package the maps hardly ever came up in team deathmatch. The Resurgence Package certainly won’t be stealing my money.
Too many camper maps
There’s a big difference between camping and sniping. The latter at least involves some type of skill, while the former is no different to hanging out in your mum’s basement on a Saturday night waiting for something to happen and pouncing on the most lackluster of events. Almost every map in Modern Warfare 2 is crawling with campers who ruin the game. Sure, when there are enemy harriers outside, you’d be a damn fool to go running around, but camping for the whole game is not cool.
Ammo care packages
”Hooray, I got a care package!” After dancing in celebration Les Grossman style, it’s such an emphatic disappointment to see it’s only ammo. It’s utterly useless, especially when an enemy gets a predator and destroys you mere seconds later.
Noobs
I don’t have the world’s greatest kill/death ratio, but at least I’m somewhat considerate as to how many times I’ve died. Getting 20 kills is detrimental to your team if you get 25 deaths. Unfortunately noobs don’t seem to understand that, and too often one kid with 5 kills and 21 deaths is the reason for a narrow loss.
Akimbo shotguns
I hate double Akimbo shotguns, but as there’s no way to beat them I’ve had to join them. I don’t use them often, but snipers on Wasteland absolutely love the grossly overpowered weapons. Even a shot to the foot is an instant kill with the Akimbos, which is ridiculous.
WTF I Killed that guy!!! RAAAGGGGGEE!
Maybe we’ve done a complete revolution and ended up back at lag, but surely I can’t be the only one who dies when it’s blindingly obvious it should have been the other guy re-spawning. Melee attacks are the biggest problem, as I constantly re-spawn finishing my attack. Surely we at least both died; I saw the ruddy the knife go into his chest!
When the other team gets 50 billion kill-streak perks
Killstreak perks are awesome...when you get them. When the other team gets them they’re the most annoying part of Modern Warfare 2. It’s even worse when the opposing team gets a string of perks resulting in certain death over and over again against something you can’t avoid.
