It's been a long time coming; the return of gaming's most cynical of antiheroes, Max Payne is about to burst onto our screens once again, which is an exciting prospect. To really get you pumped up for the release, here's five reasons you should be excited about his return.
A Different Max Payne
Previous instalments of the Max Payne franchise had us taking control of this over-the-top, super cynical, unbelieveable character in an even more unbelieveable situation. That was fine, it worked and it created a memorable experience that has resonated with gamers for years now.
However, it's nice to see Max Payne 3 usher in a different kind of Max Payne. We're introduced to a disheveled, down on his luck, depressed Max who shows a more believable demeanour. His situation is certainly abnormal, but is far more believable than his previous exploits, and it shows a more human side to the character. It's nice to get a fine balance of crazy and realism in this Max Payne.
Crazy Physics Engine
Running an updated RAGE engine, the same engine that powered Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 sports some of the greatest physics we've ever seen in a shooter. Enemies will realistically react to their environments; shooting an enemy who is running down the stairs will cause their body to bend and twist realistically as it smashes into railings, stairs and eventually the ground. The added bonus now is that Max can roll around on his stomach or back and shoot in a full 360 degree circle, which is a welcome new addition indeed.
Built For The Right Platform
Concerned about getting a port on the PC? Don't be; Rockstar Games has confirmed that each version of Max Payne 3 was built from the ground up for each platform. That means that PC gamers are actually getting a full-blown PC game, not another crappy port.
Free Trip To Brazil
Ever wanted to head down to Brazil? Well now you can experience the culture for a fraction of the price. Rockstar has painstakingly created a living, breathing version of South America for you to explore, and destroy with a multitude of weapons. 100% of the fun without the cost or jail time to go along with the thousands of firearm violations.
Intense Multiplayer
Run, dodge, dive and Bullet Time your way through friends and foes online. This is the first time multiplayer has made its way into the Max Payne franchise, and by all accounts, it looks amazing. With a series of game modes, the ability to team up with friends via the "Crews" section, and the entire arsenal of weapons at your disposal, Max Payne 3 is sure to dominate the online charts upon release
